You love TV shows? You love gymnastics? Then abc’s ‘Make it or Break it” is your must watch! The show tells the story of four young women who share one dream: participating in the Olympics. This is not a documentary, so don’t expect ‘real’ life…..but it’s highly entertaining and a great show for evenings on your couch!

Ordinary Creativity

Standard

A lot of my friends would call themselves a “creative” person. Some are great photographers, who see the world through different lenses, some a great writers, or  musicians or are artists. But the more I think about creativity, the more I understand that we forget the value of “ordinary” creativity. Creativity being ordinary?! How does that work? Let me explain: My mum and her talent to make something out of yarn and wool is extraordinary! Over the years she knitted an endless amount of jumpers, socks and scarfs! She finds great joy in creating something for me or my friends and for her it is also a way of letting all stress behind. I have fond memories of my mum sitting in front of the TV knitting and leaving a hard days work behind. My mum would never describe herself as a creative person. She is very pragmatic, admits that she can’t draw or paint and is not a fan of crafty stuff but she creates beautiful jumpers! That is “ordinary” creativity for me! Ordinary creativity is also baking or cooking, decorating, making cards, gift wrapping……the list is endless.

I think so often we only value the extraordinary and forget that all of us have creativity in us and we all have different outlets. I admire people who are devoted gardeners and create little paradises in their back yard.

I’m starting to see and understand that we are all creative human beings and we all have different outlets. And we should value and encourage it, not crush it. Mine at the moment is trying a new recipe every week. Or just opening the fridge and see what I can make out of it.
